ABOUT: Eric Sinacori had a lifelong passion for sports. While excelling in many sports in his early years, he eventually committed solely to ice hockey, which he played through the end of high school on the varsity team. Hockey taught Eric how to overcome challenges, appreciate diversity, deal with peer pressure, identify personal goals, organize for success, and to respect teammates and adversaries. Eric also learned to value his academic and personal development and realized the importance of school work and the value of good citizenship. Hockey equipped him with many life enhancing values that helped form his character by reinforcing his positive self-esteem, leading to a genuine sense of identity and personal empowerment. Eric was awarded a Chancellor’s Scholarship from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, as well as a prestigious scholarship from Buick. His passion to help others led him to the study of kinesiology. Although Eric was still unsure where exactly the field of kinesiology would take him, he knew that his future was destined to help others.
MISSION: The mission of the Eric Sinacori Memorial Foundation is twofold - first, to provide need based financial support to graduating seniors at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, as well as upperclassmen enrolled in the Kinesiology program at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, via annual scholarships, and secondly, to provide funding for enrollment and equipment to children who meet specific educational objectives, yet lack the financial resources to experience the many benefits provided by recognized youth ice hockey or other youth sports programs. The foundation aspires to allow Eric’s name to live on by honoring his passion for learning, as well as his passion for sports and the many life enhancing values these programs offer. Eric knew he wanted to help others and it is our desire to strive towards his goal
